Description

This milepost, likely dating from the early 20th century, was made by Smith Paterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and is painted white and black. The milepost features a shield-shaped plaque displaying the distances to Cornhill (37 miles) and Morpeth (7 miles), which is set on a circular shaft. Additionally, there is a lower rectangular plaque indicating Wooler (24 miles) and a maker's plate below it. The overall height of the milepost is 0.9 metres.
