Description

NY 98 SE KIRKWHELPINGTON KIRKWHELPINGTON VILLAGE

7/88 Stable block c.20 yards west of Kirkwhelpington Vicarage II GV Stable, carriage house and groom's cottage. Early C19. Roughly-dressed stone with Welsh slate roof.

Single-storey stable and carriage house to left with plank door to stable and ½-slatted window. Right of this a double door with wood lintel, then segmental- arched double carriage door, both in alternating-block surrounds. Gabled roof.

2-storey cottage to right is probably earlier, partly rebuilt in early C19. It has C20 plank door and Yorkshire sash. Gabled roof with small square stone end stack on right gable. Pitching door on right return and single-storey shed behind.
