Description
The stable block located approximately 20 yards west of Kirkwhelpington Vicarage is a Grade II listed building from the early 19th century. It features a combination of a stable, carriage house, and groom's cottage, constructed from roughly-dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof.
On the left side, there is a single-storey stable and carriage house, which includes a plank door leading to the stable and a half-slatted window. To the right, a double door with a wooden lintel is followed by a segmental-arched double carriage door, both set within alternating-block surrounds. The building has a gabled roof.
To the right of the stable, there is a two-storey cottage that is likely older and was partly rebuilt in the early 19th century. This cottage features a 20th-century plank door and a Yorkshire sash window. It also has a gabled roof with a small square stone chimney stack on the right gable. Additionally, there is a pitching door on the right return and a single-storey shed located behind the cottage.
