Description
This stable block, built in the early 19th century, is located approximately 20 yards west of the Old Temperance in Kirkwhelpington Village. It is constructed of dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has an L-shaped layout.
The two-storey left range contains stables on the ground floor and a hay store above. It has three plank doors set in an alternating-block surround and two half-slatted windows on the ground floor. The first floor features one half-slatted window and a pitching door, both in similar surrounds.
To the right, there is a single-storey range that includes a carriage house, which is now used as a garage, on the left side, and a plank door on the right. The roof is gabled, with kneelers and ridged coping.
