Description

The stable block, located approximately 50 metres east of Oswaldkirk Hall, dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble that is brought to course, with a roof made of Welsh slate and stone slate. Originally a coach house, it has been converted into a garage, with two cottages on the left and a stable on the right. The building is two storeys high and consists of eight bays. The central four bays project forward and are quoined. There is a channelled arched carriage entrance in the third bay, flanked by half-glazed doors and fixed windows for the cottages. The stable features a 10-panel double door. On the first floor, there are fixed windows, except for pitching doors in the seventh and eighth bays. All windows and doors have keyed stone architraves. Additional architectural details include a concave eaves course, gable coping, shaped kneelers, and stacks at the left end and ridge.
