Description
The stable block, located approximately 6 metres southeast of Kennel Farmhouse, is a detached structure dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is built of rubblestone and features a pantile roof. The building consists of a two-storey, two-bay cart or carriage house on the left, set across the slope as a bank barn, and a lower one-storey, two-bay stable on the right.
On the left side, there are two segmental-arched openings with cut-stone voussoirs, along with a fine retaining double board door. Above these openings, there is a board loading door with a concrete sill and an 8-pane sash window, with the upper part top-hung. On the right side, there is a board door in a segmental-arched opening, which has an open arch for ventilation, and a segmental-arched casement window to the right. At the rear, there is a board door leading to the hay loft on the right.
This stable block is an important part of the group with the farmhouse and is included in the listing for its group value.
