Description

This is a range of outbuildings located to the north-west of Haughton Castle, built in 1816 with some earlier materials incorporated, and later altered in the 19th century. The structure is made of rubble with dressed stone details and has Welsh slate roofs.

The range consists of four sections. On the left, there is a two-storey tower featuring a boarded door flanked by narrow slit windows, with an older slit window set above. The tower has an embattled parapet. In front of the yard, there is an attached wall with stepped coping, and this area is enclosed by a wall that includes a privy connected to the right side of the tower at the back.

To the right, there is a single-storey, three-bay section that has boarded doors, small-paned iron-framed casement windows, and paired segment-headed pigeon holes with platforms below the embattled parapet. All doorways and windows have chamfered surrounds, with the doorways featuring flat-pointed heads. The front elevation of the garage at the far right has been altered.

The rear elevation, which is at a lower ground level, reveals two segmental-arched cart entrances leading to the basement of the three-bay section, along with pre-19th century masonry in the substructure of the garage.
