Description
This gateway, located approximately 50 yards south of Birney Hill Hall, dates from the early 18th century. It features rusticated gate piers that have pulvinated friezes, cornices, and ball finials resting on cushion bases. The low quadrant walls are topped with railings that include a top rail and pointed standards, which culminate in lower rusticated piers with cornices and obelisk finials. The double gates are designed with a dog rail, an arched top rail, and spearhead standards.
