Description
The garden walls and gateways south of Oriel House and Coach House were built in 1892 by architect R. Norman Shaw. They are constructed from random rubble with ashlar dressings and feature an iron gate. The walls enclose the south and east sides of the garden.
The east wall begins with a taller section that includes a round-headed doorway flanked by small baluster colonettes set in recesses on each side. This wall ramps down to a lower section that has a random rubble base, moulded coping, and a balustrade. Similar walling extends halfway along the south side, leading to a gateway with a naturalistic wrought-iron gate, before continuing as a solid wall.
