Description
Fell House Farmbuildings with gingang are early 19th-century planned farm buildings located in Chollerton. They are constructed of random rubble with ashlar dressings and feature Welsh slate roofs. The buildings form three ranges around a farmyard, with a gingang at the rear and a carriage house in the center of the yard.
The rear range includes a large two-storey block that has four segmental arches leading to byres on the ground floor, and three hit-and-miss windows above for the granary. To the left, there is a single-storey byre with a partly-blocked segmental arch.
The left range, which was formerly stables, is now used for storage and features a plank door to the right set in a chamfered alternating-block surround.
The right range consists of three sections with roofs that step down from each section. The left part serves as a threshing barn with a circular gingang at the rear. The middle section was a hay store, identifiable by ventilation holes in the gable end. The right section is a cart shed with three segmental arches. The gingang is supported by square rubble piers and has a Welsh slate conical roof topped with a ball finial.
In the center of the farmyard, the carriage house features a segmental arch and a double arched door. The roofs of the buildings are gabled, and both the right range and the carriage house have flat coping.
