Description
This is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of random rubble with Welsh slate roofs, and the walls are approximately 4 feet thick. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The central doorway has a lintel with a flattened Tudor arch, partly obscured by a 20th-century porch, and a 20th-century door.
The windows are early 20th-century casements set within openings that previously held two-light mullioned windows. Stumps of several double-chamfered mullions are still visible, along with recessed, chamfered surrounds.
The right return side has two large, late 20th-century windows and one small, blocked square window with a chamfered surround. A similar window, formerly two-light, is visible at the rear, alongside a blocked doorway with a flattened Tudor arch.
The left return side displays remnants of further walls and a large external stack, which originally stood inside the house. The gabled roof has flat coping at the right side and rebuilt brick end stacks.
The house represents the remains of the manor of the Widdrington family and is included on the list for its historical value.
