Description
Little Swinburne Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1808 for Sir William Lorraine. It is constructed of dressed stone and features a Lakeland slate roof. The building is two stories high with a five-bay main block and lower one-bay side wings that project to the rear.
The garden front includes central double boarded doors with an overlight set in alternating-block jambs. The sash windows, which have a 12-pane design, are framed by similar surrounds. The left wing has a blocked window, while the right wing features a margined sash window on the ground floor and a 16-pane sash window above.
The roof is coped and gabled, with kneelers and rebuilt brick ridge stacks. A garage door has been inserted in the rear of the left wing.
Inside, the farmhouse has a staircase with square balusters, six-panelled doors, and internal shutters.
