Description
This is a terrace of cottages located in East Horton, originally consisting of eight cottages but now reduced to four. They date from the 18th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. The cottages are constructed of coursed rubble. The original layout featured a lobby entrance with two rooms, each having a fireplace. In the mid-19th century, kitchen extensions were added to the rear of most cottages. There are 19th-century ashlar surrounds on some doors and windows, while other windows have rendering that imitates flat raised surrounds. Several smaller fire windows are present, some of which are blocked. The windows have been renewed with sash designs. The cottages feature stone stacks with cornices and are a well-preserved example of a rare, early type of estate cottages.
