Description
Weetwood Bridge is a bridge dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a single, high, wide, elegant arch that creates a hump-back shape. The bridge is flanked by pilaster strips, each with a niche and a round inset panel above. At the north end, there are square projections with blocked round-headed arches, and round end piers topped with large conical finials. The parapet has flat coping stones, and the approach walls include a drip stone at the base of the parapet, supported by small corbels. The roadway is narrow over the bridge, but the parapet widens on either side to allow vehicles to pass.
