Description

The gateway at Fowberry Lodge, dating from around 1780, consists of gatepiers, a gate, and adjoining walls made of ashlar stone. The square piers are corniced and feature recessed ogee panels, topped with truncated ogee caps that support rope-moulded bases for hounds' heads, which are painted white and red. The left and right walls have ridged coping and end piers with pyramidal caps. This lodge also served as the kennel-keeper's cottage, which explains the presence of the dogs' heads.
