CHATTON FOWBERRY Gateway at Fowberry Lodge

GV II

Gatepiers, gate and adjoining walls. c1780. Ashlar. Corniced square piers, with recessed ogee panels, have truncated ogee caps holding rope-moulded bases for hounds' heads, painted white and red. Left and right walls with ridged coping and end piers with pyramidal caps.

The lodge was also the kennel-keeper's cottage, hence the dogs' heads.
