Description
The gateway at Home Farm, Stobs Castle, features late 18th century square-section gatepiers made of squared, coursed, rock-faced masonry. These gatepiers are topped with a deep frieze adorned with triglyphs and paterae, and they have a dentilled cornice that supports square urns above. The entrance is completed with 20th century spear-headed iron gates.
Adjacent to the gatepiers is a gatelodge built around 1865. This two-storey and attic structure has a square plan and three bays, characterized by a rustic style with a multi-gabled roof and deep bracketed eaves. The lodge is constructed from squared rubble with ashlar margins and features chamfered window and door openings. It has a Welsh slate roof and is situated within the estate's perimeter wall, facing northwest.
