Description

Branton West Side is an early 19th-century farmhouse with adjoining farm buildings dated 1817. It is constructed of dressed coursed stone and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features five bays arranged in a 2:3 pattern. The doorway, located in the fourth bay, has a shallow stone pedimented porch. The windows are 12-pane sashes, although the left two bays have sills at slightly different levels and later 12-pane sashes. Originally, the house was likely three bays with a cottage or service area attached to the left, which was later combined into one house in the 19th century when additional services were built at the rear. At the back, there is a ground floor lean-to corridor. The house has two square stone gable stacks and one larger ridge stack, which has been rendered and partly rebuilt in brick.
