Description
Newtown Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1800, constructed from coursed dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features three bays across the front and two bays deep, with a lower outshut on the right rear and a one-bay addition to the left that includes additional services behind. The layout follows a central staircase plan.
The central doorway is framed by voussoirs of a former door, which is now covered by a later porch. All windows have sills and are fitted with 12-pane sash windows. The right side of the building has similar windows, along with two 9-pane attic windows. Gabled dormers that break the eaves are present on the left addition. In front of the farmhouse, there is a 20th-century greenhouse. The quoins and window surrounds exhibit horizontal striated tooling, similar to that found at Old Bewick Farmhouse. The roof is gabled with flat coping stones and features gable-end stacks with plain square cornices.
