Description
This milepost, located 580 metres southeast of Powburn Post Office, is likely from the early 20th century and was made by Smith Patterson Ltd. of Blaydon. It is constructed from cast iron and painted white with black figures. The milepost features a shield-shaped plaque that displays the legend "CORNHILL 22 MORPETH 22" set on a circular shaft. It is partly buried in the bankside and stands 0.60 metres tall.
