Description
29 and 30 Market Place is a late 18th century building featuring three storeys and two windows. The structure is made of painted brick, accented with painted quoins, stone cill bands, and window lintels. It has a slate roof with verges and brick chimneys. The windows include glazing bar sash windows with exposed boxes. On the ground floor, there are two wide modern shop windows and a glazed, recessed door to the right. Centrally located on the first floor is a large shield displaying the saltire of St Andrew from Hexham, flanked by brackets that support statuettes of Roman generals. This building, along with St Andrew's Church and other listed buildings in the Market Place, forms a group of local interest, including Nos 8, 10, and 16.
