The Shambles is a covered market built in 1766 by Sir Walter Blackett. It features stone columns at the front and wooden columns at the back, arranged in a layout of 9 by 3 bays. The market has a moulded cast iron gutter and a shallow double-pitched slate roof. It is part of a group that includes St Andrew's Church and other listed buildings in the Market Place, with Nos 8, 10, and 16 being of local interest.
