Description
Gardener's Cottage, located near the west entrance to the Castle Kitchen Garden, dates from before 1827. The building is two storeys high with three windows on the north front and features a single-storey, two-window extension to the west. It is constructed of ashlar stone and has a slate roof. The cottage has glazing bar sash windows, with single-hung windows on the first floor and tripartite windows on either side of the main section. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door set in a round-headed recess, accompanied by a trellis porch. The later single-storey extension includes one blind window and one later glazed sash window, along with two ogee-headed doorways, one of which is also blind. The east side has two gables, with brick construction and stone architraves around the windows, and a three-light bay window on the ground floor to the right.
