Description

The garden walls to the south of West Shield Hill Farmhouse date from the 18th century and have been altered. They are constructed of coursed rubble on the outside and handmade brick on the inside, topped with gabled stone coping. The south wall features arched stone piers that support a 20th-century wrought-iron gate. A section of the wall to the left of the gate was rebuilt in brick around 1950, although the old coping was replaced. These walls are included for their group value with the farmhouse.
