Description

This is a terrace of three early 19th-century houses located on the south side of Regent Square, Headland, Hartlepool. The buildings are constructed of painted stucco and render over brickwork, with Welsh slate roofs. The roof at the left end is hipped, and there are two brick stacks.

The houses are two storeys high, each with two bays, and No. 11 has a two-bay return. Nos. 9 and 10 feature round-headed doorways with fanlights on the left and right respectively. Canted oriel windows projecting from the first floor are present on the right and left bays of the terrace, with mid to late 19th-century sash windows with margin-pine glazing to the first floor of No. 10. Most other windows have been altered in the mid to late 20th century, but remain in their original openings. No. 11 has a timber doorcase with pilasters and entablature on its right side; a mid-20th century casement window now occupies the space where a canted bay once stood on the left, and other first-floor windows have been altered.

The east return has a two-storey canted bay window to the right, and all windows on this return have altered mid to late 20th-century glazing in their original openings. Painted stone sills and wedge lintels are generally present. Rear wings and extensions are not of architectural interest. The buildings are included on the register for their group value.
