Description
The churchyard boundary wall and gate piers to the Church of St Hilda date from the 18th century and earlier. The wall is constructed from random limestone rubble, with sandstone ashlar and dressed limestone piers, topped with concrete copings. There is a plinth at the south-west corner. At the south end of the west side, there are three semicircular steps, which are flanked by 18th-century gate piers featuring chamfered cornices, ogee caps, and plinths. At the west end of the north wall, there are mid to late 19th-century gate piers that have pyramidal caps. This structure is included for its group value.
