Description

This house, dating to circa 1700, has been altered in the late 19th century and the 20th century and is now divided into two dwellings. It is constructed of rendered and painted stone with a clay pantile roof. The building is two storeys high, with the left-hand side of No. 27 slightly lower than the rest. It has an asymmetrical facade of four bays. No. 27 features a late 19th-century canted bay window with reeded pilasters on the ground floor, and a paired sash window above. A late 19th-century doorcase with reeded timber pilasters and a panelled reveal frames a late 20th-century glazed door. No. 29 also has a late 19th-century canted bay window with reeded pilasters on the left, and a central doorway with a matching doorcase and a late 20th-century door. The right-hand bay of No. 29 lacks a ground-floor window. All windows are late 19th-century sashes with glazing bars, and painted stone sills. The roof is hipped at the right end of No. 29, and a rebuilt stack is located to the right of No. 27. Later 20th-century two-storey rear extensions are not considered to be of particular interest.
