Description

Mayfield House is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Hartlepool Friar Terrace, Headland. The house is stuccoed and painted, with chamfered quoins at the corners. It has a Welsh slate roof. The building is three storeys high and originally had two bays, though the right-hand bay has been altered to incorporate a two-storey polygonal bay window. A late 19th-century eight-panelled door is set within a timber doorcase with panelled reveals, and is topped by a rectangular fanlight. A late 19th-century sash window is located on the first floor to the left. The second-floor windows have been partly blocked and replaced with late 19th-century gabled timber-framed half-dormers featuring mid-20th-century pivoted windows and glazed returns. This building is included on the listing for group value.
