Description

The walls, gatepiers, and gates to Stooperdale Offices were built in 1911 and designed by William Bell for the North-Eastern Railway Company. They are made of red brick with faience dressings, complemented by iron fences and gates.

A brick wall nearly 2 meters high runs along the north side of Brinkburn Road for 200 meters. This wall features regularly spaced, deeply sunk panels with a dentilated top on the front face and a moulded faience coping. At both ends of the wall, there are identical sets of gates. Each set has outer square gatepiers adorned with banded faience, moulded caps, and ball finials. The inner gatepiers are topped with iron lanterns and are connected to the outer piers by low curved brick walls, which also have moulded coping and iron spearhead railings. Between the inner piers, there are ornate wrought iron gates.

This structure is listed for its group value with Stooperdale Offices.
