Description
The Old School is a building that was originally constructed as a school around 1863 by S.S. Teulon for Rev. Daniel Capper. It is now used as a house. The structure is made of snecked sandstone in various colors, with ashlar dressings and some quoins. The roof is covered with blue slates, along with some green slates, and features an ecclesiastical style.
The building is one storey high and consists of four bays with a round apse at the north end. The east elevation includes French doors inserted in the third bay, which partly replace a group of three lancet windows. There are three grouped lancets in the flanking bays, while the first bay is blank. The right apse is buttressed and has groups of three cusped lancets. The roof has three pairs of inserted roof lights, rounded over the apse, and is topped with a wrought-iron finial. A chimney is located at the left end of the building.
On the west elevation, there is a gabled projection on the left side, which is one storey and one bay wide. The right porch is partly obscured by later additions. A 20th-century addition on the right side of the west elevation is not of interest.
