Description

Giant's Stride, dating from 1866, is situated within the former playground of Townfield School. This unusual structure comprises a tall wooden pole, believed to be English hardwood. It is topped with three bands of wrought iron, the lower of which is displaced. A double-hoop finial is present, along with four attached hooks from which short chains connected to ropes were hung, likely used for play.
