GV II

Shop and village institute reading room, now one house. Circa 1863 by S.S. Teulon for Rev. Daniel Capper. Coursed squared sandstone of irregular sizes, and various colours; ashlar dressings; roof of grey and green slates. T-plan; shop at front, reading room at rear. Front range, of one high storey, 3 bays, has projecting centre with 2-centred stone-arched window under half-dormer and steeply-pitched hipped roof; flanking bays have lower projecting 3-light windows, lights all wood 2-centred arches, under pent hipped roofs. Steeply-pitched roof has rear chimney. Left return gable has blocked door under stone lintel; paired attic lights. Lower rear wing has various outshuts under pent and gabled roofs; lancet windows to reading room at far, end. All windows have stone surrounds. Interior shows chamfered beams in former shop; some original wrought iron door fittings; some doors inserted; chamfered stone surround to fire in former reading room.
