Description

The Lodge is a house dating from the late 18th century, located on the south side of The Green in Hamsterley. The building is pebble-dashed with ashlar dressings and features a stone-flagged roof with a stone ridge. It has two storeys and three bays, forming an L-plan with a left rear wing. The central door consists of six flat panels and is topped by a patterned fanlight, set within a doorcase from around 1900 that includes pilasters and a pediment.

The ground floor has large late 19th-century sash windows, while the first floor features three late 19th-century sashes, all set on sill bands. The ground-floor windows stop short of the door, indicating an altered surround. The roof is hipped on the right side and has rendered end chimneys. The rear elevation facing the street includes a gabled hood over the central door and a large round-headed stair window with intersecting glazing bars. The one-storey, three-bay right wing has a 20th-century door, a three-light window with glazing bars, and a two-light horizontal sliding sash, along with a large square ridge chimney.
