Description
Roslyn House is a mid-18th century house with late 19th century alterations. It is constructed of roughly-dressed coursed squared sandstone, featuring quoins and ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with graduated stone flags and has stone ridge and gable copings, along with rendered rubble and painted brick chimneys. The house has two storeys and three wide bays. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a plain overlight, all set beneath a flat stone lintel. There is a late 19th century lattice wood porch with a segmental head and a pyramid finial. On either side of the entrance are late 19th century canted bay windows that have bracketed cornices and plain sashes. The first floor features late 19th century sashes, which are set beneath flat stone lintels and sills. The roof has three ridge chimneys: two at the left and right of the second bay, made of rendered rubble with a top string, and one at the right end, rendered in brick. The gable copings are supported on moulded kneelers. At the time of the survey, much of the elevation was obscured by ivy.
