12/177 Stable block north of Startforth Hall 12.1.67 ( formerly listed as Coach House at Startforth Hall)

F Stable block, dated 1754 with initials G A on architrave on north door, but may incorporate older fabric. Front squared stone, other walls squared rubble, all rendered and pebbledashed; cut dressings. Graduated stone slate roof with grey brick stack on rear slope.

2 storeys, 2 bays. Plinth. 9-pane short sash windows in architraves; coped gables on moulded kneelers. Left return shows triangular pigeon opening in gable with stone alighting shelf; in rear outshut window with blacksmith's glazing in architrave. Right return shows boarded door in dated architrave, and inserted openings. Rear boarded door in chamfered surround with flattened triangular head within square frame; and 9-pane fixed casement.
