Description

The stable block, built around 1810 and altered around 1830, is located to the north-west of Brinkburn Priory. It is constructed from squared stone that is rendered and pebbledashed, featuring tooled-and-margined dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is L-shaped with a south elevation that has two storeys and five bays. The central entrance is a boarded door set under a pointed arch. The end bays each contain a blocked elliptical-arched cart entrance, with a square-headed door inserted into the right one, which also has a separate overlight. The windows, which have varied glazing, all feature pointed arches and slightly-projecting sills, with the far-right first-floor window being blocked. All openings are framed in raised stone surrounds. The roof is hipped with a truncated ridge stack. The left return of the building displays two 12-pane sash windows under square heads, along with a similar window in an added rear outshut.
