Description
The ruined outbuilding and attached wall to the east of Brinkburn Mill is a former stable and barn dating from the 18th century. It is constructed from squared stone with roughly-cut dressings and is rectangular in shape, positioned at right angles to the river. On the west side, there are two doorways with alternating-block jambs, although the lintels have fallen, and a slit vent is located between them. The east side features a slit vent and two window openings with timber lintels. The building is roofless, and the gable tops have fallen. The south end of the building is continued westward by a retaining wall made from the same materials, which connects to the brick-arched exit of the mill tail race. This structure is included for its group value with the mill.
