Description
No. 12 Front Street is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It features painted rough render with painted ashlar dressings and has a pantiled roof with stone slates at the eaves and brick chimneys. The building stands three storeys high and has two windows. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a plain overlight, all set within a painted stone surround. The windows have renewed pivoting glazing, and there are canted bay windows on either side of the door. The first-floor windows are adorned with painted flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills, while the low second floor has three small wide lights. The roof is characterized by a raised gable and corniced brick end ridge chimneys, with the right chimney being raised. The street facade is well preserved and the building holds strong group value with other original houses around the green.
