Description
This is a house located at 15A Front Street in Bishop Auckland, dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior features pebble-dashed render and a pantiled roof with stone gable copings. The building stands three storeys high and has two windows on the front. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door with a plain overlight, all set within a raised stone surround topped with a cornice. On either side of the door are 19th-century canted bay windows, which have had their glazing renewed in the late 20th century. These bay windows feature plain stone sills and timber cornices. The first-floor windows are designed to imitate sash windows with four panes, and there are smaller second-floor windows in a similar style. The roof has swept eaves, and the gable copings rest on moulded kneelers.
