Description
This is a pair of storage rooms and workshops, originally built as houses. They date to the 18th century and are located on Stainedrop Road in Bishop Auckland.
The building is constructed of painted, coursed squared stone with a pantile roof and stone slates at the eaves. A brick chimney is visible. It is two storeys high with three windows arranged in wide bays. The left-hand side has a 4-panel door, accompanied by a single 18th-century stone hood bracket – the hood itself and another bracket are now missing. To the right of the door is a 16-pane sash window, followed by a 20th-century shop window, a 20th-century door, and vehicle doors set under a wooden lintel. Above these openings is a 12-pane sash window set under the eaves of the first bay, and two plain, square 20th-century windows to the right. The steeply pitched roof has wrought-iron gutter brackets and swept eaves. The right return gable features triangular block edge stones.
