Description

This early 19th-century shelter shed is part of the Manor Stables, situated off Staindrop Road, west of Bishop Auckland. The building is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings. It is a single-story, two-bay structure. The east-facing elevation, largely concealed by a covered yard, features two wide segmental arches. The left return side has a single, tall window with a projecting stone sill and a thin lintel. The shelter shed is designated as having group value, meaning its significance lies in its contribution to the wider setting of the Manor Stables.
