Description

This large milestone, dating from the 19th century, is located 500 metres south of Alwent Farmhouse. It is made of sandstone and painted white. The stone has a single triangular plan and stands about 1.0 metre high, featuring a slightly sloping top. On the north-west face, it has incised, sans-serif letters painted black that read "RICHMOND 14 (miles)," while the south-west face displays "STAINDROP 1 (mile)."
