Description
Garden House is a late 18th-century gardener's house that has been converted into a private residence, with a mid-19th-century addition. The building features sandstone ashlar on the front, while the rear is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and quoins. The addition is made of coursed rubble, and the roof is covered with Welsh slate, with Lakeland slate used on the pent extension. The structure is two storeys high and consists of two bays, along with a two-storey, one-bay addition on the right and a one-storey, one-bay pent extension.
The north elevation displays sash windows with glazing bars, framed by plain stone surrounds and sill bands beneath a pedimented gable. The right gabled addition features flat stone lintels above a renewed door on the left and late 19th-century sashes with projecting stone sills. There are banded chimneys located on the right side of the original building and on the gables of the addition. The left extension includes an inserted garage door and a two-light window on the left return with a sill band.
On the rear elevation, there are plain stone surrounds around a blocked central door, with a window inserted in its place. A Tudor-arched stair sash with glazing bars is present, and a band at the center of the stair window continues with the adjacent garden wall. The rear also features a pedimented gable.
