Description

The south entrance gateway to Raby Castle, likely built in the early 19th century, features piers and pedestrian archways made of sandstone ashlar. It consists of two tall square piers that have plinths, top strings, cornices, and low pyramidal coping. These piers are flanked by short sections of flat-coped wall, each containing a pedestrian arch with voussoirs. The gates were removed at the time of the survey.
