Description

The piers, gates, railings, and walls surrounding the Vane mausoleum at the Church of St. Mary were built in 1850 for the second Duke of Cleveland, likely designed by William Burn. The structure features ashlar piers and walls, along with iron gates and railings. At the front corners of the enclosure, there are pyramid-coped chamfered piers, which are complemented by spear-headed railings and gates, as well as principal supports topped with bud finials. It was noted that the left pier was damaged at the time of the survey.
