Description

River View is a house with garden walls, piers, and railings, dating from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier materials. It is built of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, although some details are obscured by ivy. The house features a low-pitched hipped roof made of graduated stone slates with a stone ridge and a stone chimney. It has two storeys and a three-window range. The door on the left has six panels, with the top pair being glazed quadrants, set in a round-headed projecting surround with pilasters, and possibly a keystone. The plain stone surrounds frame the plain sash windows.

Inside, there are internal shutters on some windows, a renewed dogleg staircase with a slender handrail supported by reeded stick balusters, and a truncated stair window with an opening light enclosed within the house. The rear rooms contain a two-panel door and cast-iron grates from around 1800. The garden walls on the east side of the house are approximately 2 meters high and feature flat stone coping along the long north wall and part of the east wall. The central part of the east wall, facing Demesnes, has been lowered and filled with wrought-iron railings topped with spike heads. There are boarded doors on the east side in a plain stone surround to the left of the railings and on the north side beside the house.
