Description

Wesley Terrace comprises a pair of houses dating from the late 18th century, likely constructed for a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel that stood in Wycliffe Chapel Yard, built in 1764 and subsequently demolished. The houses are built of coursed squared stone with tooled ashlar dressings, and have roofs of stone slates with a stone ridge, chimneys, and gable copings. They present a 4-window range to the front. Each house has a raised stone surround with impost bands and a key feature above the central door; the left-hand door's upper panels have been replaced with glass. The houses feature 4-pane sashes to the left, some with removed glazing bars, and 16-pane sashes to the right. The low-pitched roof has moulded kneelers and transverse ridge corniced chimneys. The rear exhibits a 2-bay central projection, along with some altered doors and windows within their original surrounds; one window has been inserted into a doorway, and a door into a window. The interior has not been inspected. Wycliffe Chapel Yard sits within a group of yards located off The Bank, representing old burgage plots.
