Description
No. 26 The Bank is a house that has been converted into a shop and flat. It dates from the late 18th century, with a shop added in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, and it features a roof made of thin slates with stone gable coping and a rendered chimney. The structure has three storeys and consists of a one-window range.
The full-width shop front includes steps leading up to a half-glazed door on the left, which has a high overlight above it. A six-pane shop window projects in a shallow bay, supported by slender pilasters. The entablature above the window breaks forward and features a zigzag detail on the fascia. The central windows have been updated with new glazing and have plain stone surrounds that have been altered. The roof displays right gable coping on a moulded kneeler and has a chimney at the right end. The interior has not been inspected.
