Description
27 The Bank is a house that was later converted into a shop and flat, and is now a restaurant and flat. It dates from the late 18th century, with a shop added in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of painted coursed squared stone, featuring painted quoins and painted tooled-ashlar dressings. The roof is made of stone slates, with stone gable copings and chimneys. The building has projecting quoins and stands three storeys high with a two-window range.
There is a wide passage entrance on the right, framed by a painted tooled stone surround and featuring double boarded doors. The full-width shop front has renewed glazing set within slender Gothic-style pilasters that have crocket capitals, along with a central recessed half-glazed door and a high overlight. The windows on each floor have tooled surrounds, with transom and casement lights. The roof has end gable copings on moulded kneelers and truncated end chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
