Description
No. 24 The Bank is a house that has been converted into a shop and flat. It is likely from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations and a shop front added in the late 19th century. The building features irregular courses of squared stone, with ashlar quoins and dressings. It has a Welsh slate roof, complete with stone gable copings and yellow brick chimneys. The structure is three storeys tall and has a one-window range.
Inside, there are steps leading up to an open passage on the right that leads to West View, a former Methodist Chapel. The shop front includes a central door, windows with a central transom, panelled pilasters with decorative paterae, and a boarded fascia and cornice. On the first floor, there is a fragment of a floor band on the left, along with a central late 19th-century canted bay window featuring four-pane sashes, chamfered mullions, and a corniced flat roof. The second floor has a floor band, which is damaged on the left, and two windows with similar sashes that have painted stone surrounds extending through the band at what were once the eaves, now raised to a more uniform height. The roof has stone gable copings that rest on moulded kneelers and features corniced end chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
