Description

The bastion, located 30 metres south of Brancepeth Castle, is an early to mid-19th century garden feature. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features tooled ashlar coping. The bastion has a semicircular plan and is built into the steep side of a valley. It includes a slightly projecting embattled parapet with chamfered coping and short return walls at each end. This structure is included for its group value with the nearby castle.
