Description

This milestone, located approximately 100 metres west of Brockersgill Sike, dates from around 1830 and was likely created for the London Lead Company. It is made of painted ashlar and stands about 0.6 metres high. The front features a slightly chamfered edge and a segmental top. The names "ALSTON 20" and "MIDDLETON 2" are incised and painted in black Roman capitals on the front.
